Question Collectors Edition

I'd just like to get a little bit more information about the Collectors Edition. I'm excited about a lot of the things coming with it but I am concerned about TeamSpeak. From what I've heard about other online communicators they seem to get junked and garbled up. Can someone set me straight on this so I know whether or not its worth the extra $40 to put into the game. Any comments are welcome.

I don't know if AN has said anything offical about it, but plenty of stores are offering it. Here's what they say it offers:

* Guild Wars Game
* Guild Wars Sound Track - Jeremy Soule
* Guild Wars Cloth Map
* Logitech Headset
* 3 Months Teamspeak
* Hard Covered Guild Wars Art Book (4.5" x 6.5")

A thread like this came up on my guild's forum when the Deluxe Edition first started appearing. Shop around for a good deal if you want to get it, because some places are charging much more than others. I've seen it as low as $59.99. From the Best Buy store (I think) comes this quote:
Quote:
"Includes a Logitech Headset (a $29.99 value) and Roger Willco software designed to support online conversations with your friends while playing online multiplayer roleplaying games"
So its likely Roger Wilco and not TeamSpeak for voice chat that you get. As for the model headset, someone said this Logitech headset fit the quoted price, but they could be using one of a few slightly cheaper ones.

No clue how offical all that is since I couldn't find it on AN's site, but it might just be I didn't look hard enough.

Question
What are the contents of the Collector's Edition?

Answer
We have not announced a Collector's Edition for Guild Wars. Although a few retailers have posted about this product, we ask that you please await accurate and timely information from our website, www.guildwars.com.
(Link to above page)

I don't know if this means that the retailers are guessing on the Collectors Edition or putting it together themselves. If its the first I feel sorry for the people who have preorder that one, hopefully they can switch to the normal edition if the retailers are wrong.

Deadroot & Black Arrow

Thanks for the informative posts! I look on www.guildwars.com daily to see what new posts they've listed. I know I haven't seen anything about a Collectors Edition yet so maybe I should just jump back to the regular retail game until I hear otherwise. That'd probably be smart because I'm sure the GW team, when they list it, will give us a lot more information about it and whats going to be in it too.

What I'd still like to know is (for those that do online gaming alot) if verbal communication through an online game is worth it. What are the positive aspects about it (aside from being able to play and not typing half of the time) and are there any negative issues that anyone knows about? This is with any headset program that anyone is aware of.

from what i have seen, voice chat software is essential to organized PvP combat. if you are not using ventrilo/teamspeak/etc., you are at a serious disadvantage.

pros: hands-free communication. you need your fingers to control your characters. any typing involved is only going to slow you down. especially in PvP, timing is crucial and GW can be very much a twitch game.

cons: bandwith. if you are on dial-up, this can be a serious concern. in the tombs, there is often a slight advantage to those who load the map first, even though there is a start timer. also, if your bandwith is hit hard enough, the lag can get you and/or your teammates killed. for broadband users, this is pretty much a non-issue.

other cons may include: being forced to listen to others babble or make annoying sound effects during battle, finding out that that cute elementalist you have been hitting on is actually a drunk guy with his hand down his pants..

this should be a good thing, now you can stop hitting on her....er...him and try and find another ele, lol

and ive never used team speak, but i think it has more cons than pros. 1st the only thing i like about it is not having to type and when you bring up the chat box u cant use the arrow keys to move, so thats a plus.
cons.- it lag up your comp more (thats what ive heard at least) people can acctually yell at you, saying something in caps doesnt really do much. everyone in your guild has to get it if you want to use it (i think)

pros are definitely fast communications in pvp. easy coordination and target calling, but Ctrl+click is easy anyway. but definite advantages to fast play using voice.
also, more casual pve play is great if you're playing w/ friends with voice over. trash talk is great when it's all fun.

cons is definitely the loudmouth, the curser, the perv, and the whiner. (bottom of it all is the 1337 733n h4x0r. i never thought there was a verbal version 1337 5p33k...it was that or this kid didn't know the same english language i do, but he sure pwn3d the wa/mo he was fighting ) if you're playing with people you don't know, use a public server. giving your IP to one of the above might not be good for your bandwidth...

After playing a few beta weekends without voice chat and one with it, it is definitly worth it. In PvP it is a must, my guild used it in GvG all weekend and its amazing how much better you communicate when you don't have to type. In PvE it's not essential, but it is nice to have since you don't have to type what you want to say.

I have dsl so I had no problems with TeamSpeak slowing me down. Even the dial ups in RoA didn't mention anything about it. The only problem we had was a couple people joining when we were in GvG and just yelling and making noises so we couldn't hear anything.

Default interresting..

I have used Roger wilco before and i have also used teamspeak2 before and i have to say that teamspeak2 is alot better. sound-wise and also userfriendly-wise. because you get like soooo many different channels its not funny. and its soo easy. anyway thats my opinion.

Thread Necromancy...

The post has nothing to do with the topic at hand and we all know that the sequel is better than the prequel.
